Iain Kerr - Theatre Director / Producer

Since his early teens, Iain has always had a keen interest in stagecraft. voice production and the theatre and its association with music. His ability as Director has taken him throughout the UK, in all states of Australia, New Zealand, South Africa and Rhodesia.  As Producer he has worked in association with the major theatrical organisations in all of these territories – including J.C. Williamsons Theatres, Harry M. Miller, Kerridge-Odeon Theatres, Hillway/Hodges Presentations in Australasia, Hugo Keleti, Taubie Kushlick Productions Pty in South Africa and the Arts Councils of New South Wales, Western Australia, Tasmania and Rhodesia.

In New Zealand, Iain directed the shows of the touring Rondolier Revue Company headed by Peter Dawson and was, for three seasons, Musical and Artistic Director of Savoy Operas for the Dunedin Gilbert & Sullivan Society.

Apart from directing ‘Gilbert & Sullivan Go Kosher’ which toured the U.K. New Zealand, Southern Africa and Australia, he was also responsible for directing ‘Slightly Jewish and Madly Gay’ which also toured Australia with a requested season in Johannesburg.

He was in demand as a personal coach, grooming artists for major roles in West End productions including - Miriam Karlin (‘Fiddler on the Roof’), Oliver Tobias (‘Hair’), Pamela Gale (‘Rattle of a Simple Man’), Anita Harris in her debut into West End Cabaret.  ‘New Faces to West End Cabaret’ was a season created by Iain to further the careers of experienced West End chorus members and putting them in the spotlight.  With the co-operation of London’s May Fair Hotel, a six-month season opened their new venue - Downstairs at the May Fair.

All of the artists appearing were personally directed by Iain and because of this prestigious showcase, a great many of them benefited handsomely from this unique experience.
